PRESS RELEASE
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
Innalillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun …
It is with a deep sense of sorrow and sadness that I write this letter of condolence on behalf of myself, my family and associates.
I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the Kano State Government, Kano State Sports Commission, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the good people of Kano State and the general public on the tragic accident that claimed the lives of our beloved players, athletes and officials.
My source confirmed to me that the ugly incident where many died and scored injured occurred at the outskirt of chiromawa town of Garun Malam Local Government Area around 11: 00 am, today Saturday the 31st day of May 2025 on their way back home after participating in the Gateway Games2024, a National Sports Festival hosted in Ogun State.
This is a devastating loss not only to their families and the sporting community but to the entire nation.
These young and enthusiastic talents dedicated their lives to the beautiful games of sports and brought joy, entertainment and inspiration to many sports lovers across our dear nation.
Their passing away is indeed humbling, heartbreaking, and words cannot fully capture the pains of this tragedy.
During this difficult time, my thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and all those affected. May you and all of us find strength and solace in the memories of these gifted individuals.
May the Almighty Allah forgive their short comings and give us fortitude to bear the loss and for the injured we pray for their speedy recovery.
Allahumma Masfi Mardhana Wa Raham Mautana, Amin
Signed : H.E. Dr. Nasir Yusuf Gawuna
