Leaders or potential leaders in Africa especially in Nigeria should cease having any fear of negative reviews and condemnations from the public after their deaths !
There’s no way any national leader can please the people of Nigeria regardless of how selfless or good he serves the public during his term while holding public office..
A leader should just play his part, resist the urge to play to the gallery and try not to be a populist leader while in office.
Forget about the public reviews after you depart or die in or out of office and deal with criminality and lawlessness from both the masses and the elites squarely and effectively.
Finally serve to the best of your ability, then move on and forget about their reviews because their opinions don’t really matter to you when you are no more.
We have a mostly caustic, bitter and evil minded set of people in Nigeria (especially those at the lower rung of the ladder) who have taken it as a tradition and have taken the caustic pleasure of throwing insults and abuse directed at every national leader while alive, and regrettably even in death.
This group of Nigerians have engaged in these type of obsession to throw harsh invectives, curses and insults against past and present leaders who have fallen ill, or on a sick bed on their last breath and fighting for their dear lives, or after their sad demise.
Leaders from Balewa to Murtala to Shagari, IBB to Abatcha to Shonekon to UMY and now PMB and Tinubu have all suffered from this national malady… so for me, there’s no surprises here!
For me, this is the lesson and take away to learn from the passage of former president Muhammadu Buhari.
