PEPT Judgement: Triumph of Democracy, Popular Choice of Tinubu & the APC – Dr. Gawuna

The immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State and the flag bearer of the APC in the 2023 gubernatorial election in Kano State, Dr. Nasir Yusuf Gawuna has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the President and Commander in Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR on his victory earlier this evening against three political parties (APM, LP & PDP) who had challenged his election as president at the ‘Presidential Petition Election Tribunal’ – PEPT.
Dr. Gawuna also extended his felicitations to Nigerians, the generality of APC members, members of the NEC and NWC and most especially to the National Chairman of the APC, H.E. Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on this victory which affirmed the popular and democratic choice of Nigerians for President Tinubu, the Vice President, Alh. Kashim Shettima and the APC as a party in the last general elections.
Dr. Gawuna in a statement in which he personally signed and released to the press this evening, said “the judgement of the tribunal will help to put to rest all the negative campaigns of propaganda and disinformation by a minority in the camp of the opposition against the legitimacy of the mandate of Mr. President and the APC.”
He “praised the courage, wisdom and deep intellect of the five members of the tribunal chaired by Justice Haruna Tsammani for doing justice to the cases laid before their lordships.”
He further added that, “their elucidation and detailed dissection of the judgement televised live for over twelve hours has shown to Nigerians and the world that our judiciary as an institution is an embodiment of professionalism, is open and transparent, filled with industrious and matured judicial officers who possess the highest level of personal integrity, who are fearless and have shown the capacity to dispense justice to all manner of men, and even in the face of orchestrated social media campaign of intimidation and threat to their lives and that of their families, they persevered and pronouced the verdict to the applause and praise from a broad spectrum of Nigerians and indeed the whole world.”
He continues, “Indeed, their landmark judicial pronouncements would help in no small way to boost the confidence of our citizens, that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man.”
Dr. Gawuna finally “appealed to the losers and indeed all Nigerians to cooperate with the Tinubu government in order to enjoy the fruits of our democracy.”
Gawuna joins other well meaning Nigerians in praying to the Almighty Allah to bless, and guide the president and his team, grant him the wisdom in the governance of our nation for the benefit of our people and our dearly beloved country, Nigeria.”
